ILOILO CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has awarded special land patents for a sanitary landfill in Buenavista town, Guimaras province.

The DENR-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) awarded two original land title certificates to the Buenavista local government unit (LGU) earlier this week.
The land patents are part of the DENR’s efforts to help implement Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
“The special patents were awarded for the sanitary landfill to ensure the protection of public health and the environment. This will address the solid waste disposal as it will ensure the proper segregation, collection, transport, storage, treatment, and disposal of solid waste,” said DENR-Guimaras PENRO officer Edgardo Rostata.
The two special land patents cover a total area of 35,997-square meters in Sitio Kalalan, Barangay Piña.
The land patents were awarded in partnership with the Buenavista LGU and the Registry of Deeds in line with the DENR land management program.
The awarding of the land patents was witnessed by Buenavista Mayor Samuel Gumarin, Vice Mayor Cyril Beltran, and Councilors Rommel John Edang and Valentin Talabero, a former DENR-PENRO officer.
