Classes cancelled in Negros Occidental due to ‘Paeng’


BACOLOD CITY – This city and various local government units in Negros Occidental suspended classes starting Thursday, Oct. 27, until further notice due to tropical cyclone “Paeng.”

The LGUs reported that heavy rain caused water level to rise and flooding in some areas.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez here suspended classes on all levels in public and private schools due to flooding in some areas.

Other areas which suspended classes were the cities of San Carlos, La Carlota, Silay, Talisay, Bago, Victorias, and Sipalay, and the towns of Pontevedra, Moises Padilla, Toboso, La Castellana, Don Salvador Benedicto, San Enrique, Murcia, Calatrava, E.B. Magalona, Valladolid, and Hinoba-an.

The Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) said no landslides were reported despite heavy rain since Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Monitoring is ongoing on the situation of each locality.
