44 injured in 6.4 magnitude quake that hit Northern Luzon- NDRRMC
At least 44 people were injured when a 6.4 magnitude earthquake jolted several areas in Northern Luzon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) disclosed on Thursday, Oct. 27.
NDRRMC spokesperson Raffy Alejandro said most of the injured persons were from the Cordillera Administrative Region, particularly in the province of Abra where the epicenter of the earthquake was monitored.
Most the injuries, according to Alejando, were related to the fallen objects and other infrastructures that were damaged and hit the local residents.
Based on the latest NDRRMC data, Alejandro said more than 132,000 people were affected, some of them lost their homes.
"We received reports that there were 2,052 damaged houses. In terms of infrastructures, there were 125 infrastructures that were damaged," said Alejandro.
"Currently, we conducting assessment on these damaged houses and infrastructures to determine if these are still safe for use, especially houses and schools," he added.
Alejandro said the tremor caused power outage in various affected areas but he said power was already restored.
