A man died while his companion was severely injured after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car that caught fire upon impact in Malate, Manila early Thursday, Oct. 27.

According to a report from the Manila Police District (MPD), the incident happened on northbound lane of Taft Ave. corner Remedios St. in Malate at around 1:40 a.m.
Police identified the driver of the car as Matthew Chio, 20, a student, while the two motorcycle riders have yet to be identified as of this posting.
Initial investigation said the car was traveling along Taft Ave. when the motorcycle suddenly appeared from Remedios St.
Due to the strong impact, the car caught fire.
The two victims were immediately brought to the hospital but one of them was declared dead on arrival.
