Prioritize shelter for families affected by Abra earthquake —Marcos
The government is prioritizing to provide temporary shelter for the people affected by the magnitude 6.7 earthquake that jolted Abra and nearby provinces on Tuesday night, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said.

Marcos assured the affected communities on Wednesday, Oct. 26, that help will come, especially shelters as the strong quake damaged several houses in Abra.
"We do not have a critical problem when it comes to food, maybe shelter is the most important part of the relief that we have to provide now," Marcos said in a press briefing at the sidelines of the National Information and Communications Technology Summit 2022.
"Hinihingi ng karamihan ay tent the reason why ay natatakot silang bumalik sa bahay nila baka mag-aftershock (Many are requesting for tents because they are still afraid to go back to their homes due to aftershocks)," he added.
The President also said they will ensure that power supply is restored in the affected areas.
In a tweet, he reminded the affected communities to "keep out of tall structures" and remain vigilant. He promised them that the government is "coming to help" them.
"As aftershocks continue, we remain in coordination with DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) for the inspection of roads and buildings, DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) for relief, DOE (Department of Energy) for outages and DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) for monitoring," Marcos said.
As of Wednesday morning, six individuals were reported hurt from the powerful earthquake while several houses in Abra are damaged.
Classes and work in Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur on Wednesday were suspended due to the earthquake.
As aftershocks continue, we remain in coordination with DPWH for the inspection of roads and buildings, DSWD for relief, DOE for outages and DILG for monitoring.
Everyone is advised to keep out of tall structures.
