PNP coordinates with Bilibid anew to secure 3 'commanders' named by middleman's sister
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now coordinating with the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) anew, this time, for the three more inmates who were reported to have been named by middleman in the Percival Mabasa killing, as the ones who tasked him to do the hit job.
Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, director of the Southern Police District and the head of the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Percy Lapid, said a team of policemen were already sent to the NBP to check if the three "commanders" that were squealed by Crisanto Villamor are still inside.
"We are checking if they are still detained at the NBP. We are securing a certification on whether or not they are still inside," said Kraft.
The names of three "commanders", assumed as leaders of gangs inside the NBP, were squealed by Villamor to his sister whom he also told to reveal it if he would die. Villamor died a day after self-confessed gunman Joel Escorial named him as the middleman.
Based on the report, Villamor texted his sister a few hours before he died that he felt uneasy with the surrender of Escorial.
It was the same fear that Escorial felt when he was allegedly told that he had to be taken to a safe house. Escorial eventually decided to surrender.
On Tuesday, national police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr, said the SITG Percy Lapid immediately coordinated with the Department of Justice to get the statement of Villamor's sister.
Azurin also instructed the concerned police commanders to secure the family of Villamor in the province, as well as the family of Mabasa.
