Nurse, father ambushed in Maguindanao

SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao (PNA) – A government nurse survived but his father was killed in an ambush in Barangay Ungap here on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

In a report released on Wednesday, Oct. 26, Lt. Col. Julhamin Asdani, municipal police chief, said Gani Singkang, 50, died on the spot, and his son Abdulrasheed, 31, a male nurse at the government-run Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital here, was critically wounded.

Both are residents of Barangay Gang in this town.

Asdani said the victims were in a sedan driven by the older Singkang with his son sitting in the front seat when they were attacked at 6:20 p.m.

“They were heading from home from the Cotabato Sanitarium when attacked,” he said.

Residents rushed Abdulrasheed to the sanitarium situated about 500 meters away while his father died on the spot.

Responding cops found empty shells for a .45-caliber pistol at the scene.

Asdani said an investigation is ongoing on the motive of the attack.
