GUMACA, Quezon – Police found bomb-making materials in a mountainous part of Barangay Villa Mendoza here during a manhunt against a suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebel on Tuesday morning, Oct. 25.
The 2nd Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company received information that Julius Lucaba, an NPA member under Joseph delos Santos, alias “Bingot,”of Platoon Reymark of the Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA) 4-B, was seen resting and lying on a coconut kiln in the area.
Police verified the information and proceeded to the area but Lucaba sensed their presence and fled towards a forest.
A search of the area yielded a hand grenade, improvised explosive devices locally known as “bigas-bigas,” 12-centimeter commercial time fuse, two empty round bottles, and a plastic bag containing 1/8 kilo of nails.
Lucaba has a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
