SAGiP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta has given unsolicited advice on how Paul Soriano should carry out his new job as Presidential Adviser on Creative Communications.

According to Marcoleta, the information that Malacañang needs to deliver to the people neither be mangled nor sugar-coated.
"Ang importante ay wag mong babakliin yung impormasyon na yun (The important thing is to not change that information)," the former deputy speaker noted during a recent episode of Net 25's Sa Ganang Mamamayan.
"Magpa-creative ka kung gusto mo pero kapagka dumating sa tao, kapag naglanding sa tao ay yung kung ano yung dapat mong i-deliver, wag mong aayusin, wag mong ime-make up. Kung ano yung hitsura niya, yun yung ibigay mo (Be creative if you want, but don't fix, don't put make up on what you need to deliver to the people. Give it to them the way it really looks like)," he explained.
Marcoleta warned Soriano--whom he didn't mention by name--against confusing Filipinos, saying that would be a difficult situation.
Failure to impart one's true message to the public can lead to confusion, he said. On the other hand effective communication can encourage better cooperation from the people, the veteran solon said.
"Pero kung ang pag--uusapan ay yung pag-uulat mo direcho sa tao, palagay ko hindi na kailangan yung maging creative ka dyan. Ang kailangan lang dyan ay magpakasimple ka dyan, magpakatotoo ka dyan, maintindihan ka ng tao (But if we're talking about the way you report to the people, I think you don't have to be creative with that. What you need to do is to be simple and truthful with it, and the people will understand you)," Marcoleta said.
He cited as example former president Rodrigo Duterte, who was known for his straight-up, unfiltered style of talking.
"Ito yung komunikasyon na gusto ng tao. Bukod sa totoo, simple lang ang pagkaka-deliver (This is the communication style that the people want. Aside from being real, it was delivered in a simple manner)," he said.

"Rodrigo Duterte was trying to communicate to his people effectively. Walang creation dun, walang creativeness doon (There was neither creation nor creativeness there)," noted Marcoleta.
Soriano, a film director, is the husband of showbiz personality Toni Gonzaga. The couple is an avid supporter of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
