‘I’m so happy’: Korean star Park Eun-bin deeply touched, cries at Manila fan meeting 


She sang, delivered famous lines from her dramas, spoke in Filipino and in the end, she cried when she became overwhelmed by the immense support and love she felt from her fans.

Korean actress Park Eun-bin, who garnered global popularity for portraying lawyer Woo Young-woo in the hit Netflix and ENA drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” successfully held her first fan meeting in Manila.

On Oct. 23, the star held her “2022 Park Eun-Bin Asia Fan Meeting Tour: Eun-Bin Note: Binkan” in Manila at the New Frontier Theater.

She came to Manila prepared by learning Filipino and the audience loved her for showing a different side of her.

Manila was the first stop of her Asia fan meeting tour. Park Eun-bin launched the fan meeting in Seoul last month following the global success of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” which held the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s weekly chart for nine weeks.

The star, who won best actress at the recent Asia Contents Awards (ACA), opened her fan meeting by singing “Hello” by K-pop group Red Velvet’s Joy.

“Kamusta kayo, Pilipinas? Ako po si Park Eun-bin. Ikinagagalak kong makita kayo. Salamat sa pagpunta (How are you, Philippines? I am Park Eun-bin. I’m glad to see you. Thank you for coming),” said the actress.

She added in Korean, “As this is my first time, I am really nervous and my heart is fluttering right now but I am so happy.”

Emcee Kring Kim noted that Park Eun-bin spoke in Filipino.

“Actually I wanted to communicate with my Filipino fans, that is why I really learned Tagalog,” the 30-year-old actress explained.

“This is my first time at a fan meeting and, of course, Asia tour. I’m so overwhelmed because this is the start here in the Philippines. I was worried because I thought the audience area would not be filled up,” she added.

She was visibly surprised by the Filipino fans’ screams and cheers that filled up the venue throughout the event.

“This is why we are the favorite of Koreans ,” the emcee noted.

The fan meeting showcased different segments, highlighting Park Eun-bin’s personal life and career, and the love and support between her and Filipino fans.

During the Profile segment, Park Eun-bin answered questions about her.

When she was asked to describe her mood on the fan meeting day, she said, “Ang saya-saya ko (I am so happy).”

On her beauty secret, she asked the audience, “Maganda ba ako? (Am I beautiful?). I have no beauty tip. Because of your love, I become more beautiful.”

In the next segment, she said the fan meeting was important to her because it allowed her to meet international fans.

“Actually I waited a long time to have a fan meeting and especially this is an Asia tour. And this is my first time to meet international fans. That is why I’m quite curious why you like me and where you like me,” she said.

Fans’ messages

Filipino fans wrote messages on when they started liking Park Eun-bin.

One fan wrote, “Her character in ‘Age of Youth’ , Song Ji-won, comforted me and made me happy when I was at the lowest of my life. That is when I failed to pass the board exam way back in 2017.”

“I first saw Park Eun-bin as Song Ji-won in ‘Age of Youth.’ Her smile was the most beautiful I have ever seen,” another fan wrote.

Park Eun-bin said through the messages, she really felt the love of the fans.

Game and career

She also played a game with fans. In the balance game segment, fans participated by guessing Park Eun-bin’s choices.

The winners of the game received customized eco bags on which Park Eun-bin drew rabbits on the spot and signed Polaroid shots taken in the dressing room.

In a special video she filmed, Park Eun-bin portrayed characters in the dramas she starred in including “The King’s Affection.”

She also sang “The Blue Night of Jeju Island,” an official soundtrack for “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.”

Park Eun-bin debuted as a child actress and has been acting ever since. Besides “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” she has starred in the dramas “The King’s Affection,” “Do You Like Brahms?,” “Hot Stove League” and “Age of Youth.”

About her longevity, she said, “One of the reasons is that I really love my work.”

When asked if she experienced a time when she wanted to give up, she said, “If we face difficulty, we can give up but thankfully, I have not experienced a time when I wanted to give up what I do now.”

On choosing acting projects, Park Eun-bin explained that “I choose what I want. I read the script or synopsis and it depends on the role. I hope that my future projects will be liked by my Filipino fans.”

Fans were also asked to pick their most favorite drama of Park Eun-bin by screaming and “The King’s Affection” got the loudest response.

She was also asked which among her roles was the closest to being Park Eun-bin in real life, she said, “It is quite a hard question. In many of my roles, I am in them but not in others.”

“I have received so many messages from Filipino fans, from you. If something good happens to me, you guys always cheer and congratulate me. And finally, I met fans here in Manila. My day is really beautiful,” she said.

Overwhelmed

As the fan meeting was about to end, a video containing messages from fans was shown. This made Park Eun-bin emotional and she cried. She was also presented with a two-layer cake.

“First of all, thank you so much. I really wanted to show through the characters and roles that I do and it captured what I really wanted to show you. Thank you to all of you. Although we are far from each other, I saw that we are connected to each other. Thank you so much. Mahal ko kayo (I love you),” said Park Eun-bin.

To wrap up the fan meeting, Park Eun-bin surprised fans by singing Filipino band MYMP’s “Especially for You.”

“This song is only for my Filipino fans and I will sing this only in Manila,” she said.

She thanked the fans who went to the fan meeting.

“Thank you for giving me your time. Thank you very much. If I have time, I really want to go back to the Philippines. Until then, stay safe and be healthy. I hope you are all happy,” said Park Eun-bin.
