The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bataan has initiated schemes that facilitated the conduct of workshops for 26 targeted barangays in the province to support the implementation of the Retooled Community Support Program (RSCP).
DILG-Bataan Provincial Director Belina T. Herman said the move is to enable the target barangays to come up with programs and projects that are geared towards institutionalizing sustainable peace and development in their communities.
A total of 26 barangays, from one city and eight municipalities namely Balanga City, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Mariveles, Morong, Orani, Orion, Pilar and Samal in Bataan will be proposing programs and receiving funds for the realization of their priority projects that they have identified to answer their pressing development needs.
The main topic presented during the seminars the basics of drafting a Barangay Development Plan (BDP) to improve the barangay officials’ skills in crafting a BDP, prioritizing programs and understanding the significance of monitoring and evaluation tools, among others.
Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) V Johnny Mandocdoc facilitated the discussion on enhancing their BDPs by integrating strategies and activities that will cater to the priority programs and governance needs of these barangays.
“Updates were also reported on the RCSP implementation of the 26 barangays identified as priority areas on the documentary requirements needed to proceed and the standards and guidelines for each project category,’’ DILG-Bataan noted.
Program Manager Allan Don Malonzo also presented the 2021 and 2022 Barangay Peace and Order Council and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council Audit results, an integral assessment for barangays in sustaining peace in the community.
The meeting also included a discussion on the tracking and monitoring of the RCSP phases and the implementation and preparations for the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) which was discussed by LGOO II Mark Angelo Pumares.
Present during the activity were the punong barangays, barangay kagawad, barangay secretaries or treasurers, the concerned personnel from Bataan Police Provincial Office and the Philippine Army (PA) who provided support and technical expertise in the implementing RCSP activities. (Chito A. Chavez)
