Scattered rains prevail over Palawan, Visayas, Mindanao due to LPA's extension

The trough or extension of the low pressure area (LPA) east of the country may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 25.
PAGASA advised those in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao to be vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.
The LPA was estimated to be 815 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
PAGASA said that this weather disturbance could become a tropical depression within 72 hours, and when it becomes a cyclone, it will be given the local name “Paeng.”
Moreover, the shear line—a region where warm and cold winds meet—may continue to affect Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Central Luzon, and Bicol Region in the next 24 hours.
The northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” may also bring rains over Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley.
PAGASA also advised those in areas affected by the shear line and amihan to remain vigilant against possible flooding or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region may have isolated light rains due to the amihan.
