A 26-year-old man was shot dead by his own father, who is a retired police officer, after a drinking session in their house in Brgy. Narra, City of San Jose Del Monte (SJDM), Bulacan on Monday, Oct. 24.
Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan police officer-in-charge, identified the victim as Erickson Galapate, 26, a security guard.
Initial investigation disclosed the victim and his father Enrique Galapate, 62, a retired member of the Philippine National Police (PNP), had a drinking spree in their house at around 4 a.m on Monday.
After they consummed a few bottles of liquor, the suspect accused his son of theft which led to a heated argument.
The suspect suddenly took his firearm and shot his son’s head twice which resulted in the victim’s death.
The Bulacan Forensic Unit team responded to the crime scene and recovered two pieces of fired cartridges, two pieces of deformed fired metal fragments, one unit of Pietro Beretta cal. 9mm with PNP engraved marking and defaced serial numbers, and a magazine loaded with 12 live ammunition.
The suspect is now under the custody of the SJDM City Police Station (CPS).
He will be charged for parricide, police said.
