Police Regional Office–Central Visayas director welcomes Gov. Garcia’s all-out war against illegal drugs in Cebu

CEBU CITY -- The chief of Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) has welcomed the all-out war against illegal drugs that Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia declared.

Brig. Gen. Roderick Alba expressed his support to the province’s campaign against illegal drugs when he paid a courtesy call on Gov. Garcia on Monday, Oct. 24.

“Before coming here, I overheard already that as early as September 15, the good governor declared an advocacy, her war against illegal drugs and we are one with her,” said Alba.

Alba visited the governor in her office at the Capitol more than a week after taking over as PRO 7 chief.

Alba assumed post on Oct. 13, replacing Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, who already retired from the service.

“Aside from the courtesy call that we made, part of which is to pledge the renewal of our commitment, to support all of her programs particularly her campaign against illegal drugs. We have been doing this already,” said Alba.

Garcia declared an all-out war against illegal drugs during the Provincial Development Council Meeting last Sept. 15.

Garcia noted that most of the crimes committed emanated from illegal drug activities.

“I would like to make a statement here in the presence of all of our chief executives and in the presence of all officials from national government agencies that, here right now, Cebu declares a total, all-out war against drugs,” said Garcia.

The governor pointed out that eradicating the illegal drug problem will greatly contribute to achieving a peaceful province.
