Man shoots uncle dead in Negros

BACOLOD City - A man died after he was shot by his nephew due to a misunderstanding in Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Monday, Oct. 24.

The victim was identified as Jimmy Tiaga Sr., 56, of Barangay Salong.

Lt. Col. Alvimar Flores, Kabankalan police chief, said they are investigating what really led the suspect identified as 34-year-old Leo Payag to shoot his uncle.

Flores said the victim and the suspect had no previous altercations and they were not drunk when the incident happened.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds in both hands and chest. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Police recovered from the crime scene fired bullets of a .9mm caliber firearm.

Flores said the victim’s family is not willing to press charges against the suspect, who is still at large.
