NASUGBU, Batangas -- Authorities discovered assorted war materials in an abandoned house located in the middle of a forest in Sitio Sapang, Barangay Utod this town on Monday morning, Oct. 24.
The materials composed of an improvised explosive device, ammunition, a handgun, subversive documents, and a flag of the New People’s Army were discovered at around 9:30 a.m. following the operation of combined personnel of 2nd Batangas Provincial Mobile Force Company, Nasugbu Police, Provincial Intelligence Unit--BPPO, Regional Intelligence Unit-4A, Regional Intelligence Division-4A, Provincial Intelligence Team Batangas, 403rd Maneuver Company-Regional Mobile Force Battalion-4A, Philippine Army’s 59th Infantry Battalion, and Philippine Air Force.
The Batangas Police Provincial Office (BPPO) said the joint operatives proceeded to the area with a warrant of arrest to serve against Yolanda Caraig, an alleged NPA member who was believed hiding in the said secluded area.
While searching the place, the raiding authorities saw an abandoned open house which they immediately checked.
The report added that the operatives did not find the target person nor any person in the said house but the team found the dirt floor was dug up.
The law enforcers saw a plastic bag containing explosive components like blasting cap, detonating cord, and other explosives components, a caliber 38 revolver loaded with bullets, subversive documents, and a flag of the NPA.
