Go for technology, be an entrepreneur — Concepcion

Now is the time to become entrepreneurs as the rise of digital technology makes it easy to do business, Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepion said.

During the recently concluded Digital Sign Up Now 2022, which was organized to encourage micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs (MSMEs) embrace digital transformation, Concepcion stressed the role of digitalization in raising the competitiveness of Filipino small business owners.

He said MSMEs were the top beneficiaries of the rise of e-wallets, delivery apps as well as social media, which allowed them to compete with the big players.

"And this is significant for all of us because MSMEs generate more than half of the jobs in the Philippines," Concepcion said.

During the event, Concepcion was joined by US Embassy in the Philippines Deputy Chief of Mission Heather Variava, who gave assurance that while entrepreneurship poses risks, cybersecurity can handle that concern.

Variava said that it is the US government's priority t to provide a secure and stable cybersecurity environment, especially for entrepreneurs.

Concepcion was also joined by Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines Folakemi Akinleye and Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Usec. David Almirol.

"There’s really no excuse to not become an entrepreneur now," added Brian Cu, founder of SariSuki, a community-based retail solution aimed at making essential goods more affordable for ordinary consumers.
