DPWH fast tracking 2 Capiz road projects, completes Leyte road
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been fast-tracking two vital road projects in Capiz that are seen to drive strong economic growth and tourism business in the province.
They are the concreting of a 6.7-kilometer Dayao-Libas-Culasi road, which traverses Barangay IV, Barangay Libas, and Barangay Culasi in Roxas City; and, the 2.3-kilometer section along Cuartero-Tapulang-Maayon Junction Road in Barangays Pina and Salgan in Maayon town.
The project in Roxas City has an allocation of P56.2 million and is expected to be completed in early 2023.
The P49 million worth road expansion in Maayon town is seen to help mitigate traffic congestion in the area and ensure the safety of motorists plying the national road, which is a major route going through Capiz.
Meanwhile, the DPWH said it is now implementing another P50 million project to improve the Burauen-Albuera road project in Leyte.
The project includes the reconstruction of damaged Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) portions in Barangay Villaconzoilo on the Burauen side and the installation of a layer of gabions to control erosions and landslides on the roadsides.
When finished, it will serve as a breast wall preventing soil and rock from fallings from the hilly areas, especially during rainy seasons, according to the DPWH.
