Retired cop shoots dead own son during drinking session in Bulacan

Police arrested on Monday, Oct. 24, a 62-year old retired policeman after he was accused of shooting to death his own son after a heated conversation in the City of San Jose del Monte (CSJDM) in Bulacan.

Police Lt. Col. Ronaldo Lumactod, CSJDM chief of police, said Enrique Galapate was arrested inside their house in Barangay Narra, immediately after the incident was reported to the local police.

Based on the initial investigation, Galapate and his 26-year old security guard son Erickson had a heated argument during their drinking session that started at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

"The father is known to have bad behavior especially when he would get drunk and during their drinking session, he accused his son of being a thief. This resulted in a heated argument," said Lumactod.

The official said that Galapate took his handgun after his son said something against him and shot him twice in the head. The younger Galapate died on the spot.

Seized from him was a 9mm pistol which turned out to have a PNP marking but with defaced serial number.
