Maguindanao municipal councilor shot dead

DATU MONTAWAL, Maguindanao (PNA) – Unidentified gunmen shot dead a municipal councilor on the national highway here at past noon on Monday, Oct. 24.

Lt. Nurjhasier Sali, acting town police chief, said Datu Montawal Councilor Mubarak Moby Abubakar was talking to a vendor of a fish stall when one of two men on board a motorbike opened fire at him.

The victim sustained bullet wounds in the back of his head and body.

Barangay tanods and police rushed Abubakar to the Deseret Surgimed Hospital in Kabacan, North Cotabato where he was declared dead.

A police manhunt with the military is under way against the gunmen.
