ILOILO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Western Visayas region is expediting the construction of two bypass road projects in Capiz province.

DPWH-6 Director Nerie Bueno said the Pontevedra and the Roxas City Bypass Road projects under the DPWH-Capiz 1st District Engineering Office aim to address the increased volume of vehicles traversing major routes in Western Visayas.
The P145-million Pontevedra Bypass Road spans 2.3 kilometers and passes through Barangays Ilaya and Malagit.
“When finished, Pontevedra Bypass Road will provide a faster and more reliable transportation system for motorists arriving from the municipality of President Roxas to the municipality of Panay and vice versa without passing through the municipal proper,” said Bueno.
The project is halfway done and only 554 meters have yet to be finished.
The P150.5-million Roxas City Bypass Road is 1.7 kilometers that will be an alternate route going to the Roxas City Airport and will reduce congestion on San Roque St. by making vehicles go directly to the airport without passing the city proper.
