ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City Health Office reported on Sunday, Oct. 23, that 96 percent or 899 out of the 932 cases of acute gastroenteritis here have recovered.
The ICHO said as of Saturday, Oct. 22, there are 19 active cases of acute gastroenteritis in this city admitted in the hospital and recovering at home.
No new cases of the water- and food-borne disease were recorded.
Fourteen persons or one percent of the total recorded cases have died from the disease.
Dr. Marigold Calsas, chief of the ICHO-City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU), had earlier said that the downtrend of cases will continue, especially with the start of the vaccination against cholera.
The Iloilo City government placed this city under a state of calamity last Sept. 2 due to the skyrocketing number of acute gastroenteritis cases.
