18 arrested in anti-illegal gambling ops in QC

At least 18 individuals were arrested in the latest operations against illegal gambling in Quezon City, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Brig. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III announced on Sunday, Oct. 23.

Members of La Loma Police Station (PS 1) arrested Ma. Rowena April Ferrer, 39, and Amadeo Arcega, 43, both residents of Brgy. Sto. Domingo after they were caught playing an illegal number game or “ending” at Maria Clara St., Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Quezon City at about 6 p.m. on Oct. 22.

In another operation, Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) also arrested Mamerto Descaya, 47; Rolly Garcia, 54; Dioscoro Descaya Jr, 45; and Antonio Aguilar, 50; all residents of Brgy. Baesa Quezon City, for playing “pusoy” at Gajudo Compound, Brgy. Baesa, Quezon City at about 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 22.

Operatives of Cubao Police Station (PS 7) also apprehended Manny Aquino Manuel, 31, a resident of Brgy. Onse, San Juan City and Reynold Capani, 20, a resident of Brgy. Kaunlaran, Cubao, Quezon City, playing “cara y cruz” along Stanford St., corner Aurora Blvd., Brgy. E. Rodriguez, Quezon City at about 2 p.m. on Oct. 22.

Also arrested were Ma. Theresa Lapis Dagdag, 35; Perpito Isunta Bituin, 51; Randy Deinla Furo, 41; Rodolfo Lambino San Pedro, 52; Harold Habalita Reyes, 32; Jaimelito Labaniego Launio, 49; all residents of Brgy. Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City; Napoleon Floresca Vallesfin, 47; Ricardo Rafanan Balibao, 64, both residents of Caloocan City; Angelito Sarmiento Daquis, 37, a resident of Nueva Ecija; and Eric Elorde Escorel, 42, a resident of Brgy. Sta. Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City.

They were caught playing “pusoy” and “tong-its” during an operation conducted by the members of Pasong Putik Proper Police Station (PS 16) at Tawid Sapa II, Phase 1, Brgy. Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City at about 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 22.

Seized from the suspects were several bet money and illegal gambling paraphernalia.

The arrested suspects will be charged for violation of P.D. 1602 or Anti-Illegal Gambling before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
