Village dad killed in motorcycle crash in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – A barangay councilor was killed in a motorcycle crash in Purok Estewetes, Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The victim was identified as Joelibert Toreno, 28, councilor of Barangay Bunga.

Lt. Everly Canto, deputy chief of the Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station, said that Toreno had a drinking session with friends on Friday night, Oct. 21.

Canto said Toreno had just dropped his drunken friend home when he crashed into a riprap barrier while approaching the curved part of the road.

Toreno had no helmet and was found lifeless with head injuries at around 6:30 a.m.

The victim was last seen alive at 10 p.m. on Friday, Canto said.

She said they will await the decision of the victim’s family if they will subject him to an autopsy to determine if there is a foul play.
