Sotto and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) groups of Metro Manila met with Ople on Thursday, Oct. 20, to discuss possible collaborative initiatives.

In a social media post, Ople thanked the Pasig local government for their warm welcome. She also noted it was a “good occasion to finally meet Sotto in-person.”

“Eager to forge partnerships with our LGUs & PESO managers versus illegal recruitment/human trafficking,” she said.

“We're looking forward to working with you more in the coming years to protect our migrant workers and to put an end to illegal recruitment/human trafficking,” Sotto replied.

During the monthly PESO Association of Metro Manila (PAMM) meeting hosted and spearheaded by the Pasig City local government unit (LGU), the DMW shared its current programs and services.

They exchanged ideas on methods and forms of partnerships the agency may undertake with the various PESO groups and LGUs.

PESO managers from the 17 LGUs in the National Capital Region (NCR) were at the meeting to engage with multiple directors of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) field offices.

DMW Assistant Secretary Venecio Legaspi, and DOLE-NCR Assistant Regional Director Russel Jallorina also came to share their knowledge in the event.
