MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Police arrested an alleged member of a criminal gang after he yielded guns and shabu in a checkpoint in Barangay Lareg-lareg here on Friday, Oct. 21.
A report from the office of Col. Jeff Fanged, officer-in-charge, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, identified the suspect as Kevin dela Cruz Ballesteros, 38, a member of the Catungal Criminal Group and resident of Barangay Aliaga here.
Police flagged down the suspect who was driving a motorcycle without license plates at about 9 p.m. and noticed a gun tucked in his waist.
He was asked to present papers for the firearm and claimed to be a confidential asset of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, prompting police to arrest the suspect for possession of a caliber 9mm pistol with 12 bullets.
Ballesteros yielded another gun with 13 bullets for caliber 9mm, five transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu with a total weight of more or less 8.7 grams valued at P59,160, P7,000 cash, digital pocket weighing scale, two cellphones, and the motorcycle.
The suspect is under the custody of the police here for proper disposition.
