Cops arrest 2 for illegal transport of petroleum products in Surigao del Sur

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) intercepted and seized petroleum products which the police unit said are being illegally transported in Surigao del Sur.

CIDG director Police Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said the operation in Lianga town of Surigao del Sur also resulted in the arrest of 59-year old businessman Romeo Donaldo; and his, driver 30-year old Joey Franco.

Lee said they launched the operation on Thursday, Oct. 20, after they received reports of illegal transport of petroleum products in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.

Seized were 20 containers containing 30 liters each of gasoline and 12 containers containing 30 liters each of diesel. The seized oil products have an estimated value of over P67,000.

"The arrested persons were fully informed of the nature of arrest and their constitutional rights. They are presently in our custody for documentation and proper disposition while a case for violation of Presidential Decree 1865 is being prepared," said Lee.
