Woman nabbed for extortion in Batangas

TANAUAN CITY, Batangas – A 22-year-old woman was arrested for robbery-extortion in an entrapment operation here on Thursday, Oct. 20.

The Batangas Police Provincial Office identified the suspect as Edralyn Dablos.

The victim, Abigail Labatete 19, told police that she gave P8,000 to the suspect to process the probation papers and secure the release of her husband detained for a drug case at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology on May 23, 2022.

However, Dablos failed to secure his freedom and asked for another P12,000 to facilitate his immediate release, prompting Labatete to seek the assistance of the police.

An entrapment operation was conducted that resulted in the arrest of the suspect after receiving the marked money in a restaurant at past 2 p.m.

Recovered from the suspect were the boodle money and a smartphone.
