No big shift in UK's foreign policy despite PM's resignation — envoy
There will be no changes in terms of foreign policy of the British government despite the resignation of Prime Minister Liz Truss, United Kingdom's envoy to the Philippines said Friday.
Ambassador Laure Beaufils said the whole world can expect a "continuity" in Britain's international policies, which include its opposition against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the continued investments in the Southeast Asian region and the broadening of relationship with the Philippines.
"We don't expect a big shift in foreign policy," Beaufils said in an interview with ANC on Friday.
The British diplomat said her government has already put in place "an integrated review" since 2021, which is what they called "a once in a generation review of our international foreign policy, security policy, defense and development policies."
Therefore, it already sets a "clear vision for the long term for the UK in terms of what we're going to be doing."
"So that has been bought into by the whole Conservative Party... And everything that you've seen from us internationally will remain our strong focus," she added.
