National ID now valid for passport applications

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will now accept PhilSys ID, widely called national ID, as a valid identification card for passport applicants.

In a statement on Friday, DFA said its Office of Consular Affairs would honor, starting October 21, the digitized version of PhilSys ID or the ePhilID for passport applications.

"To facilitate its use as a valid ID accepted for passport application, the public is advised that the details in the printed ePhilID must be clear, readable, and contain the same details as the presented documentary requirements during the passport application," it said.

"For more information regarding passport requirements, please visit: https://dfa-oca.ph/passport/passport-requirements," DFA added.
