Police Col. Earl B. Castillo assumed his post as the new chief of Marikina City Police Station (CPS) in a ceremony on Friday, Oct. 21, at the Marikina Legislative Building.
Castillo was designated as the new Marikina police chief effective Oct. 18, 2022 by Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
During the event, he read and signed the written assumption of command. The symbol and property book of the CPS were also turned over to Castillo.
Col. Wilson Asueta, the acting district director of the Eastern Police District (EPD), presided over the ceremony.
Among those who graced the ceremony were Vice Mayor Marion Andres, who came on behalf of Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro, and Col. Benliner Capili, the chief of the district directorial staff of the EPD.
Prior to Castillo, Col. Gerson Bisayas served as officer-in-charge (OIC) and chief of the Marikina CPS.
As the incoming chief of police, Castillo vowed to officials and constituents that he will do his best to meet if not surpass the achievements of his predecessors.
He also affirmed to reciprocate the constant support of the local government to the police force.
“Makakaasa po kayo na gagawin po namin ang lahat na magkaroon ang bawat pulis sa Marikina ng malasakit sa trabaho upang mapanatili ang kaayusan, kapayapaan, at makamtan ang kaunlaran sa lungsod ng Marikina (Rest assured we will do all we can to instil in each member of the police force a passion for their jobs in order to sustain peace and order, and attain progress in Marikina City),” Castillo said.
After graduating from the police academy in 2000, Castillo served as assistant police community precinct (PCP) commander in Barangay IVC, Marikina City, and then as PCP commanders in Barangays Malanday, Parang, Fortune, and Sto. Nino.
He was later assigned as section chief of various departments in the EPD.
