The Makati City Police and the Department of Interior and Local Government (Makati-DILG) signed on Thursday, Oct. 20, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Philippine National Police's (PNP's) KASIMBAYANAN program at the Makati Central Police Station.
The KASIMBAYANAN program, which stands for Kapulisan, Simbahan at Pamayanan, is a community mobilization program highlighting the synergized and collaborative partnership between the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the general public with the help of the religious sector.
Makati City Police Officer-in-Charge Col. Edward Cutiyog and Makati-DILG City Director Atty. Cherry Canda-Melodias signed the MOU and was witnessed by Pastor Perfecto Gianan, Jr. of Bless Our Cops Movement, Inc., PLTCOL Matron Calyaen, ACOPO, Makati CPS, Mr. Jeffrey Parchamento, President of Makati Advocacy Group, members of the Station Advisory Council, and faith-based leaders.
During the launch of the revamped KASIMBAYANAN program on Oct. 3, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Public Affairs Executive Secretary Fr. Jerome Secillano lauded the PNP's recognition of the religious sector as a partner in maintaining peace and order in the community.
“The Church continues to engage with different sectors because the church believes a lot of solving the problems in our country actually means our cooperation and our unity,” Secillano said.
“Dito po sa partnership na ‘to, nais po naming ibahagi sa inyo ang aming pakikipagtulungan, suporta at anuman po ang magagawa pa naming iba para mas mapaunlad po natin ang bayan, para ang mga tao ay maprotektahan, para ang common good ay ma-uphold po natin, gagawin po ng simbahan (In this partnership, we would like to affirm to you our help, support, and whatever we may do to further improve our country, to protect the people, and to uphold the common good)," he added.
The Southern Police District (SPD) previously recognized the Makati City Police for placing first among other police departments in terms of unit performance evaluation for the month of September.
The SPD said that the unit performance evaluation rating system is used by the PNP to measure the efficiency of police departments.
It explained that Makati City Police has achieved a score of 92.78 percent for its implementation of PNP programs.
