Makati City hosts 4th National Day Celebration


The Makati City government hosted the 4th National Day Celebration on Thursday, Oct. 20, to forge new partnerships and collaborations with other countries around the globe in the creation of new programs and initiatives benefitting their citizens.

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay led the celebration by gathering the ambassadors and representatives of the countries of China, Czech Republic, Germany, Nigeria, Palau, Spain, and Turkey to strengthen their partnerships in terms of trade, cultural exchange, and knowledge transfer.

Ambassador Huang Xilian of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Ambassador Jana Sediva of the Embassy of Czech Republic, Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ambassador Folakemi Ibidunni Akinleye of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Keith Richard Sugiyama of the Embassy of the Republic of Palau, Ambassador Miguel Utray Delgado of the Embassy of Spain, and Ambassador Niyazi Evren Akyol of the Embassy of Turkiye attended the event.

"Makati is proud to be home to 42 embassies of various countries around the world, each with its own rich history and vibrant culture. As we gather to mark this important occasion, we want to take a moment to appreciate all of you (and what you) have done to our city and our people," Binay said in her remarks.

"Your dedication to promoting peace, understanding, and cooperation has been a tremendous source of inspiration to all. From overcoming challenges and obstacles, to forging new partnerships and collaborations, you have come a long way on our journey towards building a brighter future for our people," she added

Binay and the ambassadors vowed to continue building their strong relationships and supportive efforts towards a peaceful, sustainable, resilient, and prosperous world.
