Cebu City police prepping for ‘Undas,’ 2 other major events in November

CEBU CITY – Police here are gearing up for three major activities next month.

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is set to map out security plans for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively, the opening of full face-to-face classes on Nov. 3, and the Bar examinations on Nov. 9, 13, 16, and 22 at the University of Cebu and University of San Carlos.

Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, CCPO deputy director for operations, said they have already come up with security deployment plan for 1,672 Bar examinees.

For the return of full face-to-face classes, Rafter said the CCPO is out to make sure the safety and security of the public as influx of people is expected in schools and universities in this city.

Rafter said an executive conference will be held between officials of the Department of Education (DepEd)-Cebu City Division and various law enforcement agencies to determine if there are still things to be done to ensure the safe opening of the face-to-face classes.

For “Undas,” Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, CCPO deputy director for administration, said the number of policemen who will be deployed has yet to be finalized pending final guidelines from the city government.

The CCPO is also awaiting guidelines from the national headquarters, Parilla said.

“For now, the number of personnel that we intend to deploy is similar to last year but it will be adjusted as soon as there will be final guidelines already,” said Parilla.
