TAYSAN, Batangas – Eleven members of the communist Milisyang Bayan surrendered to the military here on Thursday, Oct. 20.

The 59th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army said that the surrenderers were residents of San Juan, Batangas operating in the eastern part of the province.
The mass surrender was the result of a more expanded and intensified operation by the military and the police throughout the province.
Surrenderers told the military that they fear penalties for violating Republic Act 10168 (Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012) bolstered by RA 11479 (Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020) which punishes persons proven to be members of terrorist organizations.
Various sectors, including the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, warmly welcomed the surrenderers back to the fold of the law.
