'Metamorphosis' wins best film at UK queer filmfest, Gold Aceron named best actor


Metamorphosis wins best feature film at the 2022 Irish Prize awards (irishprize.com) 

The Filipino movie "Metamorphosis," which tells the story of a boy who has both male and female genitalia, was named best feature film at the UK Queer Filmfest known as the "Irish Prize."

Gold Aceron, who plays Adam in the movie, won the best actor.

JE Tiglao, director of the film, made the announcement on social media on Oct 19.

"WE WON BEST FILM IN UK! And Gold Aceron won the very first Best Performance in a role Beyond Binary! We won at the Cardiff's Iris Prize, an A-list BAFTA qualifying festival and one of the leading queer film festivals in UK," wrote Tiglao in the caption.

The 2022 Irish Prize was held in Cardiff from Oct. 11 to 16.

Produced by Rebelde Films, "Metamorphosis" debuted at the 15th Cinema One Original Festival in 2019.

Aside from winning international awards, the same flick also received awards and nominations from local filmfest including, best cinematography (C1 Originals 2019), Yayo Aguila for best-supporting actress Gawad Urian 2019 winner; and Tiglao, best direction, Gawad Urian 2019 nominee.
