Toddler drowns in water container in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – A two-year-old girl died after she fell and drowned in a water container at home in Barangay Nabulao, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Executive Assistant Dionilo Bogtae, head of the Public Safety and Sipalay Emergency Assistance and Rescue Services (SEARS), said the victim’s father left her for a few minutes to check on her younger sibling who was crying inside their house.

When he returned to bathe the victim, he saw her upside down in the water container.

The father rushed his daughter to a hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.

Bogtae said that the victim might have climbed up a stool and played with the water, causing her to fall and drown in the container.
