Chery Tiggo seeks solo lead vs Akari

Chery Tiggo tries to regain the solo lead when it clashes with Akari Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The Crossovers gun for their third straight victory in their 2:30 p.m. duel with the Chargers to untangle themselves from a two-way tie at the helm with the Creamline Cool Smashers.

Chery Tiggo flexed its might in its first two outings by sweeping F2 Logistics, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, and turning back Cignal HD, 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, behind the efforts of import Jelena Cvijovic, Mylene Paat and EJ Laure.

The trio is expected to shine anew after combining for 75 points in their first two games while help will also come from Czarina Carandang, who made her presence felt in their match against Cignal with a 14-point production.

But Akari is determined to keep its momentum going following a 25-20, 25-22, 25-22, triumph against United Auctioneers Army last Saturday, Oct. 15, that evened its win-loss record to 1-1.

Veteran Prisilla Rivera will continue to pace the Chargers after finishing 25 points against the Lady Troopers, along with Janine Marciano, Erika Raagas and Michelle Cobb.

Meanwhile, Choco Mucho and PLDT collide at 5:30 p.m. to improve their respective 1-1 cards.

The two teams are coming off contrasting fortunes with the Flying Titans triumphing against the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 26-24, and the Power Hitters bowing to the Cool Smashers, 25-22, 25-18, 26-28, 25-22, both last week.

Odina Aliyeva, Kat Tolentino and Bea De Leon are slated to fuel Choco Mucho’s assault against PLDT’s own triumvirate in Elena Samoilenko, Mika Reyes and Dell Palomata.
