Honda makes one of its top-selling scooters even more enticing with a mid-life upgrade. The accessible adventure scooter, the Honda ADV150, gets a power and displacement boost, now calling itself the ADV160.
Like Honda’s other models, the PCX160, Click160 and Airblade 160, the ADV also gets a new generation 157cc, four-valve, liquid-cooled, eSP+ engine. This four-valve mechanism and low friction technologies help to provide improved power output and efficient performance. This helps it achieve a maximum output of 11.8-kW at 8,500 rpm and maximum torque of 14.7-Nm at 6,500 rpm.
More new features

The upgrades aren’t just in the engine. Helping govern that increase in power is the new Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). This electronic system constantly watches wheel rotation and prevents the slipping of the rear tires, especially on wet and slippery roads.
Adding efficiency is the Idling Stop System, already present in other Honda models, that reduces fuel consumption. The ISS automatically switches off the engine after the vehicle has come to a full stop for three seconds. A simple twist of the throttle brings the engine back to life.
When it comes to slowing down safely, there’s the anti-lock braking system (ABS) which provides the rider the maximum braking force without locking up the wheels.
Another upgrade that will be appreciated is the new rear suspension, feature a new Showa shock with subtank. This new system offers more responsive performance by separating oil and air chambers, allowing for smoother damping.
Closer to the ground are wide tubeless tires that return a comfortable ride and better handling.
Another feature integrated into ADV160 is an Anti-Theft Alarm and Answer-Back System. Part of the Honda Smart Key System, these make it easier to find your motorcycle in a parking area.
Adventurous styling

What buyers still love about the ADV is still there. It still offers a distinct look unique to Honda’s adventure scooter line, tires with a semi dual purpose pattern, and a comfortable ride even over the city’s rough roads.
Upgrades to the looks include a higher windscreen. This is adjustable to two levels: high to offer wind protection on long rides or low to help ventilation while in the city. The seat height has also been lowered from 795 mm down to 780 mm, making it more accessible to more riders.
The new all-LED lighting system for the headlights and turn signals now gives it brighter and longer-lasting lighting. Behind, the distinct LED taillight with an “X” pattern has been retained. What Honda has added is an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) designed to flash turn signals quickly when braking suddenly at high speed.
The rider gets a new, full-digital LCD meter panel. For utility, the new luggage box has increased volume from 28 liters to 30 liters. The wide, matte-brown tapered handlebar offers ergonomic but accurate control.
The fuel tank capacity has also been increased from 8.0 liters to 8.1 liters for a little but more cruising range. The fuel cap itself also holds the tank lid while refueling.
The calipers also grip onto new wavy disc brakes for a more aggressive look.
The all-new ADV160 is available in three color variants: Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, Matte Solar Red Metallic, and Matte Pearl Crater White with a suggested retail price of P164,900.
