Big Hit Music has announced the title and date of release of BTS member Jin’s solo song, which will be released ahead of his enlistment in the military.
In a notice, the agency said the title of Jin’s solo single is “The Astronaut” and it will be released on Oct. 28.
“Since it’s a song made with so much love toward the fans, we hope ‘The Astronaut’ can be a gift to all of you,” Big Hit Music said.
It added, “We also prepared various promotions for the fans throughout the preparation process of this single. Please show a lot of anticipation and support for this promotion, where you can meet various sides of Jin.”
Fans can start pre-ordering Jin’s solo song starting at 11 a.m. KST on Oct. 19. The song will released at 1 p.m. KST on Oct. 28.
Big Hit Music announced on Oct. 17 that all BTS members will be fulfilling their military service with Jin enlisting first.
“BIGHIT MUSIC is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service,” it said.
It added, “Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government.”
Jin, the oldest member of BTS, is the first in line to enlist in the military, a mandatory duty for all Korean men.
"And here's something to share with you. I have a new album coming out. It's not that big of a deal. It's just a single. I was able to collaborate with someone I really adore. I have a lot of content to share with you so I hope you enjoy them,” said Jin at the BTS concert in Busan on Oct. 15.
One Korean media outlet reported that Jin’s solo song was a gift from British band Coldplay.
