BTS member Jin, who will be the first to enlist in the military in the group, will be releasing his solo song at the end of October in collaboration with British band Coldplay.
An exclusive report by Korean media outlet Ten Asia on Oct. 18 stated that Jin’s solo song is a gift from Coldplay.
Jin announced his solo project at the “World Expo 2030 Busan Korea Concert BTS (Yet To Come) in Busan” concert on Oct. 15.
"And here's something to share with you. I have a new album coming out. It's not that big of a deal. It's just a single. I was able to collaborate with someone I really adore. I have a lot of content to share with you so I hope you enjoy them,” said Jin.
In response to the Coldplay report, Big Hit Music told Korean media, "Jin will release a solo single at the end of October. The specific date and time, collaboration, etc. will be revealed later. Please understand.”
BTS and Coldplay collaborated for the song “My Universe” last year.
On Oct. 17, Big Hit Music surprised fans when it announced that all BTS members will be enlisting in the military with Jin, the oldest member, going first.
“BIGHIT MUSIC is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service,” the agency said.
It said, “Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government.”
“Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans. Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment,” it said.
