The Valenzuela City government on Monday, Oct. 17, held the ground breaking and capsule-laying ceremonies for its new Legislative and People's Center, and Finance buildings at the city hall compound.
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian led the activity, along with Vice-Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, Department of Interior and Local Government - Valenzuela City Director Mary Jane Nacario, Valenzuela City Police Station Chief Col. Salvador Destura, city councilors, and other guests.
The projects are part of Gatchalian's "Proyektong Kakaiba" that aims to attain the best quality of life for city residents. The two buildings are funded by the Office of Senator Sherwin "Win" Gatchalian.
“Ang pangako ko sa taumbayan sa aking unang termino at sa unang 100 days ng aking pag-upo, hahandugan natin sila, mga kasama, ng isang iconic at kakaiba, at siguro po sana maging pinakamaganda pong government building sa buong Metro Manila ( My promise to the people, that in my first term and in my first 100 days in office, we will present them with an iconic and unique, and maybe, it will be the most beautiful government building in Metro Manila),” the mayor said.
Mayor Gatchalian said the four-storey Legislative and People's Center building, which will be the new center for the City Council, will feature different facilities such as the new Plenary Session Hall, Office of the Vice-Mayor, Councilors Offices, and a 100-seater employees’ food hall.
He added that the building will be built on a P334,860,629.87 budget on 10,279.65 square meters of land.
Meanwhile, the Finance Building that will be built to provide quality services for taxpayers, will have six floors where the Treasure’s Office, Business Permit and Licensing Office, Assessor’s Office, Geographic Information System Data Management Office, Zoning Office, Local Civil Registry, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Office of the Building Official, and City Business Inspection and Audit Team are located.
The building will be constructed on 11,199.64 square meters of land and has a budget of P2925,120,778.62.
The city government said the Legislative and People’s Center will have two basement parking with 66 car slots and 81 motorcycle slots for city hall employees. The Finance Building will also have one basement parking with 91 car slots and 32 motorcycle slots.
The city government targets to complete the construction of the buildings by the first quarter of the year 2025.
Gatchalian said that he also wants to hold the blessing and inauguration of the buildings before the end of his first term as mayor.
He said the project is also dedicated to the 13,000 city hall employees, 600 police officers who maintain peace and order in the city, city officials, taxpayers, and residents.
