Typhoon’s trough may bring scattered rains, thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur

(MANILA BULLETIN)

The trough or extension of Nesat (international name), formerly “Neneng,” may continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday morning, Oct. 17.

PAGASA said the typhoon left the country’s area of responsibility on Sunday night and was already at 430 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon around 4 a.m. on Monday.

Meanwhile, the southwesterly surface wind flow may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas.

According to PAGASA, the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms and the southwesterly surface wind flow.

Moreover, PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said PAGASA is monitoring cloud clusters over the Pacific Ocean east of Visayas as a low pressure area may develop in the next few days.
