Police seize P300,000 illegal drugs in Zamboanga Peninsula operation

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Police Regional Office-9 seized nearly P300,000 worth of illegal drugs in the one-day Simultaneous Enhanced Managing Police Operation (SEMPO) in the Zamboanga Peninsula from Oct. 14 to 15.

PRO-9 director Brig. Gen. Neil Alinsañgan said 16 buy-bust operations were conducted and 42.836 grams of shabu were seized and 70 warrants of arrest were served in the operation.

Police arrested 70 wanted persons, including nine most wanted persons.

"The region-wide SEMPO aims to reduce crime and strengthen public safety with the support of the community to the mandates of the Philippine National Police," said Alinsañgan.

Forty-one persons were also arrested for allegedly engaging in illegal gambling while 85 firearms and 12 explosives were surrendered during the operation.
