The city of Makati has been named by a renowned travel website as one of the safest cities in the country that tourists can visit.
According to Travel Safe-Abroad.com, the Makati City ranked 6th in its latest list of 10 Safest Cities in the Philippines due to its low crime index.
The website said the city has a crime index of 39.55, similar to the cities of Dumaguete and Iloilo, from a range of zero to 100, with 100 being the worst.
Aside from declaring Makati as one of the safest cities in the Philippines, it also urged tourists to visit some of its iconic areas and sites.
"It has features similar to New York, like the Ayala Triangle Gardens, which is an open park in the middle of three bustling streets. You will also find plenty of museums, shopping opportunities, pubs, restaurants, bars, and more," Travel Safe-Abroad.com said.
"And if you love to exercise, you’ve got to visit Legazpi Active Park – an outdoor exercise space that is safe for children to roam while their parents get in a workout," it added.
