Fnatic bounces back in Day 2; Boom Esports continues to struggle

Fnatic bounced back from a so-so performance in the opening day, scoring a sweep and two draws while Boom Esports was still in search of the elusive first win in the second day of the Dota 2’s The International 2022 at the Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore on Sunday, Oct. 16.

Bannered by Filipino stars Djardel “DJ” Mampusti, Marco Polo Luis “Raven” Fausto, Armel “Armel” Tabios and Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla along with Thai captain Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong, Fnatic scored a 2-0 sweep of NA team Beastcoast while forcing a 1-1 draw against Team Secret and Entity.

Armel and Raven formed a deadly one-two punch in the victory against Beastcoast, unleashing a 11-4-11 and 6-0-10 lines on the Pangolier and Lifestealer, respectively, before running wild with a neat 7-0-14 and 12-0-9 tallies on the Puck and Templar Assassin picks in the series-clinching win in Game 2.

The win and two draws came as an improvement for the SEA representatives especially after suffering a draw and a loss in the opening day to keep its hold of one of the top eight spots which will advance to the playoffs in Group A.

If Fnatic had finally scored a victory, the same couldn’t be said for Boom Esports whose first triumph in the tournament remained elusive after settling for a pair of another draws against BetBoom Team and Gaimin Gladiators in its Day 2 assignment.

Abed “Abed” Yusopp and his Evil Geniuses, meanwhile, lost grip of the top spot in Group A after getting blanked by Team Liquid, 2-0. The NA powerhouse quickly bounced back and scored a 2-0 sweep of Hokori to stay in the second spot with a 4-0-1 record behind group leaders Royal Never Give Up which had a 4-1-0 slate.
