4 injured in Benguet bush crash

ATOK, Benguet – Four passengers were injured when the bus they were riding lost its brakes and toppled over on Halsema Highway, Barangay Caliking here on Monday, Oct. 17.

The injured were identified as Josephe Lyne Pelew, 10; Marilyn Pekdasen Khayad, 62; Summer Faith Tarnate Doguines, 26, and Sherwin Pat-ogan, 40, residents of Bontoc, Mountain Province.

Police said the bus was on its way to Bontoc when the brakes malfunctioned. The driver, Edgar Tabcao, maneuvered the vehicle to slow down but turned to its side.

The injured were taken to the Benguet General Hospital in La Trinidad.
