The mayor of Tabuelan has issued a memorandum instructing the police to shut down all STL outlets operating without mayor’s or business permits.
“All businesses operating in the local government unit must first secure the necessary mayor’s permit and business permit prior to operation and observe the recommended locations and distances from the school and church institution,” Mayor Raul Gerona said.
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said clarified those awarded franchise by the agency to operate STL are exempted from securing mayor’s and business permits.
The PCSO said a certification has been issued to Saturn Gaming N' Amusement Corp., which is the lone licensed company to operate STL in Cebu.
Those who were given franchise by PCSO are “exempted from the taxing and other revenue-raising power of the local government,” a portion of the certification which was signed by Glen Jesus Rada, branch manager of PCSO-Cebu, said.
