Police rescue man trapped by flood in Cagayan


CLAVERIA/BAGGAO, Cagayan – Police rescued a resident trapped inside his house by flood caused by heavy rains from severe tropical storm “Neneng” in Barangay Dibalio, Claveria on Sunday morning, Oct. 16.

Claveria police used a rope to save the 50-year-old man identified as “Randy” from the raging flood.

The man was shivering and soaking wet when he was rescued but otherwise in good condition.

His family thanked the police for saving him.

Claveria police continue to conduct search and rescue operations for stranded residents with the Philippine Coast Guard and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The Task Force Lingkod Cagayan in coordination with the water search and rescue is monitoring the Bagunot Bridge in Baggao as the river overflowed due to heavy rains from Neneng.

The MDRRMO Baggao said the San Isidro-Taytay Bridge and C. Versoza-Agaman Proper are impassable due to flood.

Twenty-four families or 59 individuals affected by flooding were evacuated in Barangay Taytay Bantay.

One-hundred twenty-nine families composed of 400 persons were evacuated in other barangays.

In Sanchez Mira, nine families or 25 individuals in Barangay Namuac and Barangay Centro 2 evacuated due to flood.
