Muntinlupa mayor accompanies FL Liza Marcos in visit to Alabang care facility
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon accompanied First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in her visit to the Elsie Gaches Village in Alabang on Oct. 15.
The Elsie Gaches Village is a residential care facility for abandoned, neglected or abused persons with special needs such as mental and psychological disabilities.

The facility is supervised by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The Muntinlupa City government gives support to the facility to its programs and activities.
According to Biazon, the First Lady visited the handicrafts on display at Elsie Gaches Village which were made by clients of the facility. She also visited the activity room and dormitory. She bought a painting and home decor that she liked, according to the mayor.
First Lady Marcos distributed gifts to the clients of Elsie Gaches Village including bikes, assistive devices, toys and goodies.
Also joining them were DSWD Sec. Erwin Tulfo, Rep. Eric Yap of Benguet and DSWD-NCR Dir. Pinky Romualdez.
“On a personal note, first time ko na-meet si Atty. Liza na kilala na din sa kanyang initials na LAM. Napansin ko na low profile but effective ang security set-up ng Presidential Security Group at low-key ang pagdating niya sa EGV compound (On a personal note, this was the first time that I met Atty. Liza who is also known by her initials LAM. I noticed that the security set-up by the Presidential Security Group was low profile but effective, and her arrival at the EGV compound was low-key),” said Biazon.
The mayor said that because the First Lady wore simple clothes, she easily blended with the crowd.
“Madali din siya kausap dahil down to earth magsalita at makipag usap. Ang impression ko ay wala siyang pretensions at prangka kausap. Para sa akin magandang katangian ang ganun (She was easy to talk to as she spoke in a down to earth manner. My impression is that she has no pretensions and is straightforward),” he added.
Biazon thanked First Lady Marcos for visiting one of the welfare institutions in Muntinlupa.
“Malaking bagay kapag personal na nakikita ng mga pinuno ang kalagayan sa mga nasasakupan (It’s a big thing when leaders personally see the status of their constituents),” said the mayor.
He added, “Totoo nga yung kasabihan na “Behind every successful man, there stands a woman (There is truth to the proverb ‘Behind every successful man, there stands a woman’).”
